Adjusted EPS of $0.86 topped the $0.83 consensus, but GAAP operating income fell 9% as input costs and mix pressures hit every segment.

Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR) reported Q2 2026 results on July 28, 2026, with adjusted EPS of $0.86 beating the $0.83 Wall Street consensus by 3.6%, and revenue of $6.35 billion rising 3.9% year over year. The top-line growth came alongside a meaningful deterioration in profitability, as GAAP operating income fell 9% to $825 million and adjusted operating income fell 6.1% to $1.095 billion, with adjusted operating margin contracting 190 basis points to 17.2%. Shares fell 4.57% on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, while the S&P 500 declined 0.33%.

What Drove the Results

Adjusted EPS of $0.86 beat the $0.83 consensus by 3.6%, and revenue of $6.351 billion exceeded analyst estimates by 5.47%. Despite those headline beats, every reportable segment saw operating margin compression in the quarter.

The Climate Solutions Americas segment, Carrier's largest, posted a 260-basis-point margin decline to 24.4%, as revenue growth driven primarily by price was more than offset by unfavorable product mix and higher input costs. Residential and Light Commercial organic sales grew 9% and 10% respectively, but Commercial sales fell 8% due to timing of customer deliveries. The Climate Solutions Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa segment saw the steepest decline, with operating margin falling 350 basis points to 11.8%, reflecting unfavorable mix and reduced joint-venture income attributed to the ongoing Middle East conflict. The Climate Solutions Europe and Climate Solutions Transportation segments saw margin declines of 70 and 160 basis points respectively.

GAAP EPS of $0.60 diverged materially from adjusted EPS of $0.86, a gap of $0.26 per share reflecting adjustments captured in the difference between GAAP operating profit of $825 million and adjusted operating profit of $1.095 billion.

Orders and Backlog

Total company orders grew approximately 40% in the quarter, with Commercial HVAC orders up approximately 65% and data center orders up more than 300%. Chairman and CEO David Gitlin noted that organic sales returned to growth earlier than expected and described backlog levels as a record. The Riello divestiture was completed on July 1, 2026, and Carrier has announced an exit from NORESCO, with the two transactions expected to create a combined year-over-year revenue headwind of approximately $350 million for the full year.

Full-Year 2026 Guidance

Carrier raised its full-year 2026 outlook across all key metrics. The company now guides for sales of approximately $23 billion, up from prior guidance of approximately $22 billion, adjusted operating profit of approximately $3.5 billion versus approximately $3.4 billion prior, and adjusted EPS of approximately $2.90 versus approximately $2.80 prior. Full-year free cash flow guidance remains at approximately $2 billion. The updated adjusted EPS figure includes an approximately $0.05 per share drag from NORESCO exit costs and new U.S. factory expenses.

Wall Street View

Analyst consensus ahead of the report leaned constructive, with 20 Buy or Strong Buy ratings against 11 Hold ratings and no Sell recommendations as of the most recent available data. No specific post-earnings price target changes were available in the source data at the time of publication.

Investor Takeaway

Carrier's Q2 2026 results present a split picture: record order intake and a raised full-year outlook point to durable demand from data centers and recovering residential markets, yet the 190-basis-point contraction in adjusted operating margin underscores that volume growth is not yet translating into improved profitability. Investors will likely focus on whether the input cost and mix pressures that compressed margins across all four segments in Q2 moderate in the second half, particularly given that the raised full-year adjusted EPS guidance of approximately $2.90 already embeds a $0.05 per share drag from the NORESCO exit and new U.S. factory costs.
