Lumentum Holdings (NASDAQ: LITE) reported fiscal fourth quarter 2026 results on August 11, 2026, with net revenue of $1.01 billion, up 109.3% year over year from $480.7 million, and adjusted EPS of $3.23, beating the $3.03 consensus estimate by 6.6%. The company also issued first-quarter fiscal 2027 guidance with a revenue midpoint of $1.25 billion, which President and CEO Michael Hurlston noted reaches Lumentum's target model more than a quarter ahead of schedule.

What Drove the Results

Adjusted EPS of $3.23 beat the $3.03 consensus by 6.6%, and revenue of $1,006.3 million represented the first time Lumentum crossed the $1 billion quarterly threshold. Components revenue of $649.4 million and Systems revenue of $356.9 million grew 102.7% and 122.6% year over year, respectively, reflecting broad-based demand across the portfolio.

The GAAP net loss of $7.16 billion, or $84.65 per diluted share, diverged sharply from the non-GAAP net income of $326.3 million. The entire GAAP divergence was driven by a one-time, non-cash loss on debt extinguishment of $7.8 billion, stemming from the equitization of certain convertible notes during the quarter. Excluding this item, underlying operating performance was materially positive, with GAAP operating income of $279.3 million compared to a GAAP operating loss of $8.4 million in Q4 FY2025.

In the press release, Hurlston highlighted several growth drivers layering into results: optical circuit switching solutions, a cloud module business advancing 1.6T adoption, increasing demand for ultra-high-power co-packaged optics lasers, an initial order for ELS modules, and a breadth of near-package optics engagements. He described these as early indicates that optics are beginning to penetrate in-rack connectivity, significantly expanding Lumentum's optical total addressable market.

Full Fiscal Year 2026

For the full fiscal year ended June 27, 2026, Lumentum reported net revenue of $3.01 billion, up 83.2% from $1.645 billion in fiscal 2025. Non-GAAP net income for the year reached $782.3 million, or $8.67 per diluted share, compared with $146.4 million, or $2.06 per diluted share, in fiscal 2025. The company ended the year with $2.7 billion in total cash and short-term investments, an increase of $1.9 billion from the prior fiscal year end.

Business Outlook

For the first quarter of fiscal 2027, Lumentum guided for net revenue of $1.225 billion to $1.275 billion, non-GAAP operating margin of 39.5% to 40.5%, and non-GAAP diluted net income per share of $4.05 to $4.35. The Q1 revenue guidance midpoint of $1.25 billion represents a further sequential step up from the $1.01 billion reported in Q4 FY2026.

Wall Street View

Wall Street's stance on Lumentum heading into these results was heavily constructive, with the majority of covering analysts carrying Buy-equivalent ratings. The Q1 guidance midpoint of $1.25 billion and non-GAAP EPS guidance range of $4.05 to $4.35 provide a fresh datapoint for analysts to update their models against.

Investor Takeaway

The quarter's clearest signal for investors is the pace of margin expansion: non-GAAP operating margin of 36.6% in Q4 FY2026 is guided to rise further to a midpoint of 40.0% in Q1 FY2027, suggesting that revenue growth is now outpacing cost additions. The one-time $7.8 billion non-cash debt extinguishment loss, while large in GAAP terms, eliminated convertible note obligations and restructured the balance sheet, leaving Lumentum with $2.7 billion in liquid assets to fund continued capacity investment. Shares gained 0.87% on August 11, 2026, while the S&P 500 declined 0.32%.
